2018 MEMBERS' DAY REPORT

On 23rd June we held our 8th annual Members Day at the Llangollen Railway. Once again we had a fantastic turn out with over 200 members and guests attending. We were lucky enough to be graced with stunning weather that has seen Wales have the hottest June since records began, this certainly enhances any trip down the picturesque Dee Valley.

THE PATRIOTS • A PICTORIAL RECORD • VOLUME ONE • 45500–45525

This new fund-raising pictorial book contains many previously unpublished photos of this much missed class of locomotive. Contained in its 120 pages are over 100 superb monochrome and colour photos which span four decades from introduction to the LMS in the 1930s to the demise of the entire class in the 1960s, all capturing the Patriot class in its original parallel boiler form as designed by Sir Henry Fowler. All profits from the book will go directly towards the completion of The Unknown Warrior.

£18.95 plus £3 p&p. On sale from 6th June. Order before 30th June 2018 and receive 10% discount (£17.00 plus £3 p&p)

PARTNERSHIP WITH EVERARDS BREWERY by Pete Sikes

Back in December last year the office passed on an email that had been sent by Claire Cannell of Everards Brewery asking if we would be interested in talking to them about our Project. Myself and Andy Collinson were only too happy to meet with Claire over a pint at a local Everards pub in Leicestershire – hard work, but someone’s got to do it. The message read as follows:

Review of the year from Chairman, LMS-Patriot Project, David Bradshaw (with due acknowledgment to Chris Proudfoot of the 82045 Project)

Yesterday, I read Chris Proudfoot’s monthly update on the 82045 web page which was followed by his review of 2017.  This reminded me that I still hadn’t completed my end of 2017 review for the Patriot, so thank you Chris for this timely reminder.
