MEMBERS’ MONTHLY BULLETIN - November 2021

2021 AGM

On November 13th we held our first AGM since 2019 in the Kidderminster Railway Museum. There was a full house to conclude the AGM formalities and then receive our presentation on the way forward for the project – dubbed Project Reset.

Warrior Magazine

Issue 51 started landing on doormats from Monday 6th December. There is a full write-up of the AGM and Project Reset presentation; and as this is the nearest magazine to Remembrance Day we bring you two very interesting articles about Remembrance and the efforts that were made to make sure that those who never returned home were and are not forgotten.

Engineering

The first phase of chassis reassembly work was completed this month at West Shed, with many components now removed from the frames (outside cylinders, Inside motion brackets, spring and brake hanger brackets and horn guides). The inside cylinder has been prepared for removal later in the reassembly sequence. The frames have been placed on accommodation bogies and moved to No 1 road, to allow frame treatment to be completed outside the shed.

On the boiler, HBSS have completed the slide bar stud work and are progressing the fitting of the transverse stays. Leaky Finders have undercoated the tender frames and trial-fitted the spring links.

DB Cargo

A first meeting with DB Cargo took place on 24th November 2021. This was a constructive opening dialogue over the commercial and engineering conditions for operating 5551 on the main line.  Follow-up actions for the project were agreed.

Sales

We still have good number of 2022 calendars in stock, they make excellent Christmas presents and along with our Christmas cards are available from our web shop along with lots of other items, including our branded face masks. With this week’s new government rules, now may be the time to purchase one or more.  Don’t forget, the last posting date for standard UK second class Christmas delivery is 18th December.

Finance

Following our appeal in the last bulletin a member attending the AGM has volunteered help with the finance side. Thank you.
