MEMBERS’ MONTHLY BULLETIN September 2021

Engineering

Resource for progress at West Shed continues to be restricted by the overhaul of 6233. This was intended to be complete by the end of September, but is now expected in mid-October.

Work on 5551 in the month has concentrated on the successful removal of various components from the frames (such as the inside cylinder and motion bracket), in preparation for refitting to the standard required.

The Trustee Board has approved a financing arrangement to allow PRCLT to procure a new lathe, which is expected to bring cost and efficiency benefits to the project.

A constructive meeting took place this week at Boro Foundry to discuss the way forward with the driving wheels: further discussions are expected In October.

Leaky Finders are currently machining the tender axle boxes and HBSS have started making the boiler slide studs.

Finance

Thank you so much for your continuing financial support - most boiler loan lenders, for example, have very generously donated their annual interest back to the Project, some of which has attracted gift aid making it more generous yet.

Whilst we continue our advertising in the railway press and are taking our sales stands to the steadily increasing number of galas, you can continue to can help by encouraging your relatives and friends to support us by becoming regular donors – the lifeblood of the Project.  £10 - or more – per month may not sound like a lot, but it all adds up!

As mentioned in the latest Warrior, Amazon Smile and Easy Fundraising are additional - cost-free! - ways to put money into the Project. Please bear them in mind if you are ordering your Christmas goodies on line. Smile has produced £129.61 since we enrolled with a quarterly record £25.12 being received in the latest quarter.

Prize Raffle: Good news: ticket sales have recently passed £5,000 so a big thank you to those who have returned their stubs.  If you’re still intending to try your luck, please be quick – the draw will be made at the AGM on 13 November.
